Kyla has been struggling to write her bio for over 10 years… In 2012, Kyla left behind a career in international public health to pursue her creative side behind the camera. Little did she know, she would find herself in the restaurant industry shooting delicious dishes and co-owning the food company Fidel Gastro’s and Toronto restaurant, Lisa Marie. She would spend her time balancing restaurant life, working as a TV development producer and shooting cookbooks (Street Food Diaries, SuperFresh, In the French Kitchen With Kids…).
In 2017, she opened the digital production house Benson & Oak, where she has had the opportunity to produce, shoot and direct for Food Network,SLICE.ca HGTV, brands such as Bertolli, Empress Gin, Nature Valley, Chevrolet and many more.
In 2018, Kyla and her partner Matt Basile co-wrote bestselling cookbook Brunch Life.
Kyla is inspired by stories that bring people together, explore nostalgia and make us feel connected to each other through food.
